Liverpool is one of the UK’s most famous cities. An instantly recognisable accent (which has a close resemblance to some Irish accents if you listen carefully), a fantastic musical heritage thanks to the Merseybeat and such world-wide artists as The Beatles, a superb sense of humor and two Premiership football clubs in Everton and Liverpool FC means that Liverpool is well and truly on the world map.
A visit to the city is always recommended. Given the title and responsibility for being the European city of culture in 2008, Liverpool cleaned up its act and created a lovely welcoming city. The city’s landmarks, such as the famour Liver birds (pronounced lyver, rather than livva) which are firmly strapped to the Liver Building at Liverpool’s pier head, the Albert Docks, once the hub of the United Kingdom and the port for many of the countries imports and exports and the Cavern, the place where the Beatles famously played are all in easy walking distance of the city’s train station.
If you want to visit Liverpool to learn more about the Beatles (arguably Liverpool’s most famous sons) then you can take the Magical Mystery Tour around the city, which will take you to such famous landmarks as Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields (forever) and the previously mentioned Cavern Club.
Another thing that Liverpool is famous for is the Mersey River. Chocolate brown in colour and quite unwelcoming (you really wouldn’t want to jump in for a cooling dip), the Mersey is the gateway to the Wirral. You can take the ferry across the Mersey (again, something to make Liverpool famous) or drive through one of the two tunnels under the Mersy, Kingsway or Queensway.
If you’re looking to live in Liverpool, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to houses with prices to suit all budgets. The city also offers a wide array of professional trades, from plumbers to roofers, cleaners to gardeners. All of them willing to offer you a free estimate, all of the (hopefully) keen to do a good job.
