Langholme Lake boasts a new lake record. More here.

Welcome to Langholme Lake

It took over 4 years to achieve, but on the 1st November 2005 Langholme Lake had a new boast.

For the first time we were officially a 30's water, and it was Kev who took the crown.

After months of plying the lake with copious amounts of baits of all varieties (although with the excellent bait deal that Bait Baron Mick had cunjured up it was mainly Premier Matrix), the Big'un, as it was known, hit the net and was weighed in at a quite stunning 31lbs 10oz. It didn't just break the record - it smashed it.

Kev with Neo at 31.10

Taken from the Entrance Bay peg, Kev waited patiently for his quarry. Word travelled quickly as the lake made its announcement with a variety of texts and mobile phone calls hitting the airwaves. Kev must have been shocked at the speed the news travelled as, for the rest of the day, he returned text after text to those who offered him well earned congratulations. Bailiff, Mick Walter was the man offered the job of taking the photos - and what a job he did.

Kev was given the honor of renaming the fish and, after much deliberation and creative thinking (or not when you realise how cheesy the name actually is) came up with Neo. Why? Well, it's simple. "He did well on The Matrix". announced Kev.

Neo has been on the banks a few times since Kev's capture but has never managed to reach the same weights. There is plenty of room for this fish to grow - and grow it will as the bait continues to go into the lake, and Neo keeps on feeding.

Congratulations to Kev and further congratulations to every other catcher of this prized fish. Now at a weight of 35.14 it's a considerable target to beat, but Langy throws up a number of surprises every year and we await a new lake record.
